Rugby Victoria - All Nations Rugby Clinic
Wominjeka – Talofa lava, Malo Lelei, Bula Vinaka!
The program opened with a traditional Aboriginal Smoking Ceremony performed by Traditional Owners Djarrin Wilson, his partner and brother on the Yidaki (digeridoo) in celebration and recognition of NAIDOC week - day 3. Participants embraced the experience of the Ceremony, walking through the smoke for cultural cleansing, paying respect and acknowledging the traditions of our First Nations Peoples.
This was followed by warm Pasifika greetings and a prayer. The day also consisted of Q & A sessions, goal setting workshops and rugby skills clinic. Kids from all over Victoria had the chance to not only play rugby but to hear from some great role models in our rugby community.
A BIG THANK YOU to ICS Service Solutions Pty Ltd, Rugby Vic and the Dev Officers for running the clinic, Melbourne Rebels players both Men and Women, Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation, LeMana - Empower Pasifika - Project and the Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY) for your support and contributions and our gang of amazing volunteers from Moorabbin.
Rugby Victoria are looking forward to hosting another event in September.
