Message from Club Vice President

What a few weeks it’s been at Moorabbin Rugby Club!

First and foremost, I want to take a moment to recognise National Volunteer Week (May 18–24). Eight of our own were acknowledged by Rugby Victoria for over 10 years of service — and when you add it all up, that’s more than 300 years of combined contribution to this club. Let that sink in. Three hundred years. As players, coaches, and tireless volunteers, these people are the backbone of everything we do. From the Committee, thank you — to every volunteer, coach, manager, Ground Marshall, and sub-committee member who keeps this club running week in, week out.

Clubs like ours don’t happen by accident. They’re built by people who show up, year after year, because they love the game and the community around it. That’s something truly special, and we never take it for granted.

On a lighter note, Ladies Day on 23 May was an absolute hit!
It was so lovely to see rugby mums, partners, aunties, and Nonnas all together, catching up and having a laugh. Events like this are exactly what makes MRUFC more than just a rugby club.

On the game front, the Senior Dewar Part 2 season will soon be underway. It’s been a tough road through the first half of the season, but the exciting news is we’ve already seen some of our next generation players make their senior debuts and that is something to get excited about. The future is bright.

A big welcome too, to all the new junior players and families who’ve joined the Rams family this season. You’ve chosen a great club - we’re glad you’re here.

A quick merch update:
The merch room is open Monday and Wednesday nights between 5:30 and 6:30pm. New 2026 stock lands mid-June, so if you want to guarantee your size, get your pre-order in now. Canterbury items have a two-week lead time once we’re out of stock, so don’t wait.

And one more thing - our Limited Edition 2026 Training Shirt is available to pre-order right now. We’ve only ordered a limited run, so when they’re gone, they’re genuinely gone. Lock yours in before sizes disappear.

Until next time, see you on the sidelines.

Jolene Yule
Vice President

Recycle Reuse Rugby Gear

Players and parents, if you have any old or outgrown rugby gear at home, we encourage you to give it a second life through our club recycling initiative. Donated items will help support new and younger players in our community, so nothing goes to waste.

Please place clean, gently used gear in the Gilbert black bin located in the clubroom foyer, which will serve as the drop‑off point. Thank you for helping us look after each other and the environment.
