Help Shape the Future of Moorabbin Rugby
Our Club Vision
To build a strong, inclusive, family-focused junior rugby program that retains existing players, attracts new families and creates a positive pathway for every child to enjoy rugby.

Our 2027 Objectives
We are committed to:

· Retaining at least 90% of current junior players.

· Increasing junior registrations by 25%.

· Growing girls' participation across all age groups.

· Strengthening relationships with families, schools and the local community.

· Building a sustainable volunteer and coaching network.

We Need More Members to Get Involved
To deliver our vision and achieve our 2027 objectives, we need to expand our committee and volunteer network.

There is truth in the saying “many hands make light work.” The club cannot achieve its goals through the efforts of a small number of people. We need additional members to bring new ideas, skills, energy and support to the committee.
By getting involved, you can help us build a stronger club, support our players and families, and ensure Moorabbin Rugby continues to grow successfully into the future.

You Don't Have to Do It All
Not sure whether a committee role is right for you? That's okay.
We have a range of opportunities to suit different levels of experience, skills and availability.

Committee and subcommittee role descriptions are available for members who would like to find out more. If you have a particular skill or interest that isn't listed, please still get in touch — there may be an opportunity for you to contribute.

You can also get involved through:

· A General or Executive Committee position.

· A casual volunteer role when you have availability.

· A working group or subcommittee.

· A specific project or activity.

· Providing support in an area where you have skills or experience.

Every contribution helps.

Volunteer of the Week - Scotty Maunders

This Month’s volunteer of the Week is Scotty Maunders.

A huge thank you to Scotty for his ongoing support of the Moorabbin Rams. He has generously been opening the canteen during our junior sessions, helping ensure our families and players are looked after each week.

Scotty is also one of the first to put his hand up to help on the BBQ whenever needed, and this week he even stepped in to run the sideline as a substitute official for our Under 10s.

Volunteers like Scotty are the heart of our club. Your time, commitment, and willingness to help wherever needed make a real difference to our players, families, and the entire Rams community.

Thank you, Scotty—we truly appreciate everything you do!

Junior Team Spotlight

Under 10s

The 2026 season has been a special one for our Under 10s, and it’s a team that every member of the Moorabbin Rams family should be incredibly proud of.
For most of these young players, this is their very first experience playing rugby. They arrive at training eager to learn, and week after week they have embraced every challenge with determination, courage, and enthusiasm.

The improvement throughout the season has been nothing short of incredible. Their commitment to training, willingness to listen, and hard work has been rewarded on the field, with each player growing in confidence, developing new skills, and learning what it truly means to be part of a team. While the wins are exciting, the greatest success has been watching these children build friendships, believe in themselves, and fall in love with the game of rugby.

Guiding this group is Coach Joe Iosefo, whose connection to the Moorabbin Rams spans almost four decades. Joe joined the club as a junior in 1989 before progressing through the ranks to become a premiership-winning player and Captain. He is one of four Iosefo brothers who have proudly represented the Rams, and today he continues that proud family legacy by giving back as a coach.

The Rams’ proud tradition continues throughout this team. We have Rainn, the son of our very own First Grade Coach, Premiership Player and Moorabbin Rams legend,  Machon Samu, wearing the black and white. Seeing the next generation of Rams families pull on the jersey is a reminder that our club is built on more than rugby—it’s built on family, loyalty, and a legacy that continues to inspire future generations.

One of the things that makes this team especially unique is the growing participation of girls in rugby. Our Under 10s proudly features three girls, including Coach Joe’s daughter, who continue to show that rugby is a game for everyone.

Behind every training session and every game is a group of supportive families who have embraced the Rams spirit. Their encouragement, commitment, and countless hours on the sidelines has played a huge role in the team’s growth and success.
As our club celebrates 61 years of rugby, this Under 10s team represents exactly what the future of the Moorabbin Rams looks like—welcoming new players, developing skills, creating lifelong friendships, and building a love for the game that will carry on for generations to come.

We are incredibly proud of every player in this team. Their journey is only just beginning, and the future is bright for this amazing group of young Rams.

Under 14s

Our U14s have exceeded expectations this season and developed into an excellent team. The boys have played short-handed for much of the year, yet their on-field performances have continued to improve and impress everyone.
Three Senior Rams players have stepped up to coach the team this year, and the players have responded really well. Api Waqa,Josh Dougan-Bath and Matt Dougan-Bath have helped the team develop and play some great rugby, setting a strong foundation for the coming years.

The team only has a few games to go to wrap up the season, and we are all hoping they continue to play the same style of game. A huge thank you goes out to the parents and team manager Chris Jekabsons for keeping the team ticking along as well.

Under 16s

The U16s have worked hard together this year, with the majority of the squad being new to the game. It has been a steep learning curve for many of the boys, but everyone has continued to work hard throughout the season, and the more experienced players have supported their teammates well. The team is also lucky to have the support of parents who have stepped up all year to help on game days. The boys have five more games to go, and we look forward to continuing to build on everything they have been learning throughout the year. We have also had our fair share of injuries this year and we hope the boys all recover soon.

Special mentions go to Ezra and Eddie, who played their first games of rugby in recent weeks. We are looking forward to seeing all these boys continue to develop and step into Senior teams in a few years.

50 First Grade Caps for Vili

Congratulations to Viliami Fungavaka on passing his 50th 1st grade match. Vili has been a regular fixture in our Senior squad for a number of years and definitely leads the way on-field with the way he plays the game. His season was disrupted early this year with injury, but true to form, Vili worked hard on his rehab and hasn’t missed a beat upon returning.

The 2026 Moorabbin Touch Competition is back

Our 2026 Moorabbin Touch Competition is back this month, and we have already had a great response to team registrations. We are only just getting started.

New this season a couple of single-player teams are beginning to form, giving players without a team the opportunity to still be part of the competition and join the touch season that is approaching. If you would like to join without a team, see the details below on how to register as an individual player.

Team registration is FREE and is the most important first step.

Once your team has been registered, I'll send your team manager the player registration link so everyone can officially register before the season begins.

The earlier your team is entered, the more time you'll have to:

- Recruit players
- Organise uniforms
- Have a few training runs
- Get excited for Round 1

Already Registered?

If your team has already entered, Now it's time to start getting your players registered. Having your players registered early helps us finalise divisions, prepare the draw and ensures everyone is ready to go for Round 1.

Please don't leave player registrations until the final few days!!

Recycle Reuse Rugby Gear

Players and parents, if you have any old or outgrown rugby gear at home, we encourage you to give it a second life through our club recycling initiative. Donated items will help support new and younger players in our community, so nothing goes to waste.

Please place clean, gently used gear in the Gilbert black bin located in the clubroom foyer, which will serve as the dropoff point. Thank you for helping us look after each other and the environment.
